I am thinking about it. I feel like i am missing something and I won’t find it here. I want to travel, see America, the world. But i don’t know if ill make it. Its so hard to find a job how would i support myself. I have some saved up but I’m still doubtful. Is there anyone here that feels or felt the same? If you have gone on a journey did you grow from it? or was it just sight seeing. I need help

I took off at 17 and explored several states from one end of the US to another….it was the BEST time of my life.
I felt more in control of myself than ever b4 and loved the freedom of finding myself

I like to call this “the Calling” its the feeling that when your home, you don’t feel like your home, and when your around your friends or family you just feel completely lost.
You feel like something is calling you to go someplace but you don’t know where this place is.
I have thought about leaving everything behind, and when i am out of college i am going to do just that.
i think its something deep within us, like an instinct to find something or return to our real homes.. or maybe its something a little magical. if you ever figure it out.. let me know.. maybe it will help me find what i am looking for too.

That hopeless void is a familiar one. I think at one point or many, a lot of us(people in general) have felt like that. If you feel strongly enough to leave your home I say make sure you plan, and stay safe. Being homeless is a dangerous prospect that can happen if you leave home. Personally I want to travel and see the world as well. I am going about that by graduating from college with a computer degree. lol well think about it, computers are everywhere and everyone uses them, so being a skilled professional in that field allows you to move and work wherever you want. I am looking at moving to Canada for work, and anywhere else they need computer experts. To experience a growing experience from a journey, you have to be going there for an undefined amount of time. If you’re there for a few weeks like on a vacation you’re not going to do much more than site see. Take a one way bus trip to a different City (One relatively close) see what you can do. If you can’t find a place to live, work, and hang out, take a bus home and try again later in life. The biggest thing, is to change things if you feel like you’re in a repetitive rut. Go to a different part of town, hang out with different people OR even by yourself, and just observe the world from different points of view. You might find that the city you thought you lived in is completely different than what you had thought before. Open your mind and your eyes will open that much wider.

Yes. I had wanted to leave since I was 11 years old. I felt like a stranger to everyone, and I felt like I didn’t belong anywhere. I tried, and though I had friends, I never felt like I was in the right place. Finally, at 23, I decided “that’s it” and went back to school in another city. It was the smartest thing I have ever done, and I have never regretted it. I had to leave home in order to find home. Though my wife and I still visit on occasion, there’s no way I could return to my old town. The life I always wanted is where I am now. If you feel like something is missing, take the time to find it. It’s better than spending the rest of your life wondering and regretting.
